The Nettle Creek Players is a non-profit professional theatre located in Hagerstown, Indiana.
Originally formed in 1971, NCP ran continuously through 1996 as an old-fashioned Summer Stock Theatre performing each June-August under a giant circus tent in historic downtown Hagerstown.
The project was revived in 2015 by a group of NCP Alumni and Hagerstown community leaders with the mission to promote cultural enrichment, stimulate downtown revitalization of Hagerstown, Indiana, and to preserve the historic commercial core area and cultural heritage of Hagerstown, Indiana through the presentation of professional theatrical productions, intended to create a positive image for downtown by promoting the downtown as an exciting and culturally significant place to live and visit. Under this new vision, summer seasons were presented in 2016-2019.
The reboot saw developing success and ongoing popularity until the COVID-19 Pandemic of 2020, which shuttered the program for 2 years. It's return in 2022 was fraught with the lingering effects of the national health crisis. A 2023 Season was mounted and achieved enormous artistic success and audience acclaim.
While the tent is down for now, like the beloved Brigadoon, it will surely rise again when the time is right. As of this writing, a newly elected Board of Directors is working to once again forge a new path for the group. Until then, please enjoy the archives that are cataloged on this site. Both the recent and distant past are represented. If you have photos to add to this collection, please send them to info@thenettlecreekplayers.org
